An Introduction to TRBC

By Pastor Timothy R. Stout (TS)

The living God created the universe and the life that is in it. He created it in such a way that it demonstrates His person–including attributes such as wisdom, power, eternity, and holiness. He personally gives internal testimony of this to every person, though people have the freedom to suppress the testimony if they choose to do so. Unfortunately, many do.

God created man in His image and as He did so, also gave him the responsibility and capacity to rule over the earth. God created man with unique qualities, including intelligence, will, insight, planning capacity, spiritual awareness, emotional depth, capacity to appreciate beauty, sense of justice, and, once created, perpetual existence. God may have given animals a very, very limited capacity for some of these qualities, but not all of them–animals are vastly inferior to man in what they have. It is impossible for random, unguided evolutionary processes to invent how to give man these qualities. Rather, they are a testimony of the creative power of God. Because man was created in God’s image, God gives human life value and views how a person treats other people as how the person actually feels about God in his heart.

God created the first man, Adam, and fashioned Eve from him to be a helper to him. In God’s eyes, both man and woman come from the same initial creative event and have the same intrinsic value and the same hope of eternal life and the same potential blessings in eternity. He has created them for different roles and purposes at this time, but gives them the same innate value.

A Biblical View of Harry Potter

By TS

The Bible tells us, “There shall not be found among you anyone…who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to the LORD…. You shall be blameless before the LORD your God” (Deuteronomy 18:10-13).

Harry Potter is an imaginary young boy who is a student at Hogwarts, a school to train witches and wizards in their craft. The courses in the school include the study of astrology, casting of spells, numerology, magic, divination, and conjuring of spirits. The events and episodes of Harry’s life center on how he puts these things into practice. However, one needs to be aware that these are the very activities which God expressly forbids us to participate in, as the above Bible passage teaches.

Dinosaur Fossil Soft Tissue

By  TS

Dinosaurs are fascinating, both to very young children and adults alike. The suggestion of a 40-foot long T. rex biting a man, tossing him into the air, and then swallowing him in a single gulp is terrifying. At least they died out millions and millions of years ago. Or, did they?

Perhaps not! Soft tissues have been found in numerous dinosaur fossils. Realistically, these tissues should have decayed long before the fossils appeared to us. More significant than this, many specimens of the tissues have consistently been carbon-14 dated to about 20,000 to 40,000 years ago. This is inconsistent with evolutionary theory, because the rocks in which these fossils have been found are typically presented as over 65,000,000 years in age. The discrepancy between these values is huge.

Eternity in Our Hearts? Gospel Tract by

By TS

The Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes 3:11, “[God] has put eternity in their hearts.”

God has placed eternity in the hearts of men. Instinctively, we know this. There is more to a man than just a temporary arrangement of chemicals. Even atheists will rally for one form of human rights or another. People do not rally for the rights of washing machines or hair brushes.

Modern-day philosophers like to claim that there is no such thing as “absolute truth.” This is foolish. There is a simple definition of absolute truth: “reality as understood and determined by the God that created the universe.” There is an underlying reality that makes something true true and false false. There is a simple illustration of this: Suppose a certain atheistic university professor is teaching his students that there is no such thing as “absolute truth.”Then, on a particular payday he finds that his paycheck has been suddenly cut to only ten percent of his contracted salary. The notion of absolute truth will suddenly take on a very practical meaning as he marches off to the university administration in protest. The truth that certain bills need to be paid or a penalty will be suffered will hit home when he does  not have the money to pay them.
